Jochem was General Counsel and Head of Industry Affairs at Transavia for over 12 years. At Transavia, he led the establishment of new subsidiaries in France and Denmark. He also served on Transavia’s Board of Directors. He is an acknowledged expert in EU and Dutch aviation law having published several hard-hitting articles and spoken at numerous industry events. In 2014 he introduced the “key counsel” concept of providing outsourced legal and regulatory advice and solutions to airlines. 

Jim was the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at Ryanair for 9 years and General Counsel and Company Secretary of Etihad Airways for over 7 years. He started his legal career with Linklaters in Brussels where he specialized in competition and regulatory law and worked for various airline clients, such as American Airlines and All Nippon Airways (ANA). While at Ryanair Jim helped to establish and also headed the industry body, ELFAA (European Low Fares Airline Association).
